* ELECTION OF NEW GENERAL MEETING OF HIGH COUNCIL. PROTRACTED PROCEEDINGS EXPECTED. (British Official Wireless.) (Received This Day. 11.33 a.m.) RUGBY. August 15. After sittings lasting for seven hours, all in connection with the election of a new general in place of General Evangeline Booth, the High Council of (lie Salvation Army, meeting at Clapton adjourned till tomorrow. Today's deliberations were concerned chiefly with matters of procedure and the appointment of committees and an official communique stated that "the business was dealt with in a true spirit of harmony and goodwill.” Strict precautions were taken to ensure complete secrecy while the ballot is in progress. Not until one nominee has received a two-thirds majority can the council complete its task. The last election of Evangeline Booth, lasted for over six days.
