SOUTH PARK TREES

SOME PROPOSED CHANGES. A decision to remove seven trees that are stunted and root-bound at South Park, and replace them with trees of another variety was made at the monthly meeting of the Masterton Borough Council last night. The work was recommended by the Park Committee whose members recently visited the park. It was also decided to remove one tree to another position. The committee recommended that four weeping elms be planted near the playing ground, with a view to providing shade in the summer time.

The children's playing apparatus is to be repainted. After a short discussion, the council decided to adopt the recommendations of the committee, but that some other trees be substituted in place of the weeping elms.
