SAVED FROM EXTINCTION

THE MUSK OX IN CANADA. WINNIPEG. The musk-ox (Ovibos Moschatus) which in prehistoric days roamed the wastes of Siberia. Russia. Germany. Austria. France, England, and the New World, is today to be found only in Northern Canada. These animals have been fast disappearing from the face of the earth~but fortunately they are now being preserved in their wild state in a Canadian Government sanctuary located north of here between the Hudson Eay and Great Slave Lake in the sub-Arctic. This sanctuary comprises an area of approximately 15,000 square miles. A recent survey showed that there were 172 musk-oxen and numerous calves indicating that this relict of the past is to be preserved to posterity. Other arctic wild life is also preserved in this sanctuary.
