College Concert.
The Wairarapa College concert,
which was repeated in the Opera House last night, again provided a capital entertainment which was greatly enjoyed by the audience. It was obvious that considerable trouble had been taken by those who promoted the concert to ensure its success and their efforts were deserving of every commendation. The Police Force. There is a total of approximately 1440 members of the New Zealand police force, this figure including all ranks. According to an official intimation in Wellington yesterday a large number of applications for admission to the force is being received, mostly from men about 21 years of age. It is stated that the type of recruit, from an educational standpoint, is an improvement on that of former years. Dance Attraction. At the Carnival Dance to be held in the Municipal Hail on Saturday night the some decorations will be used as for the Charity Ball. Good prizes will be given for the Monte Carlo and Lucky Spot competitions. Paper hats and streamers will be distributed to patrons and a really gala night's entertainment is assured those who attend. Car Loops the Loop. A steel roof saved the occupants from serious injury when a car driven by Mrs T. C. Moore crushed into a creek, looping the loop in the process, ‘at the residence of Mrs M. E. Moore. Coonoor, at about 5 o'clock on Sunday afternoon. Mrs Moore, who was accompanied by her young daughter, was corning out of the drive when the accident occurred. Mrs Moore and her daughter managed to extricate themselves, and except for bruises, were uninjured. Domestic Proceedings.
Notice of his intention to introduce the Domestic Proceedings Bill was given by the Attorney-General, MiMason. in the House of Representatives yesterday. In a subsequent explanation of the measure, the Minister said that it provided for a modification of procedure in cases of application for separation of married couples, when made to a magistrate. The magistrate would refer such eases to a suitable
person to endeavour to effect a reconciliation, and only after such an effort had failed would the separation be granted. All. ancillary procedure was provided fur in. sul-r’wquerit i.-Luses.
