MARTINBOROUGH
BOROUGH COUNCIL BUSINESS AT LAST NIGHT’S MEETING. ("Times-Age” Special.) The monthly meeting of the Martinborough Borough Council was held last night, the Mayor, Mr C. W. Skill presiding. There were also present: Councillors M. N. Hardie, C. R. Holmes, G. P. Cotter, D. Green, T. A. Hamilton, P. R. Plummer and M. Mulvaney. Councillor Gundrie was granted leave of absence.
Mr W. Wadsworth waited on the council and asked for permission to use the instruments to form a new band. Permission was granted on an assurance being given that members would continue to take an interest in the band.
The health inspector submitted a satisfactory report regarding the health >f the borough. Tne ranger reported having dealt with 12 head of stock during the month.
Receipts since last meeting totalled £193 17s and accounts amounting to £227 4s were passed. The works committee reported that a stock of tar was on hand and it was proposed to seal the corners of various streets. It was decided to place the collection of outstanding rates for 1937-38 in the hands of the borough solicitor. The council agreed to call lenders for the lease of Considine Park. CLUB GOLF MEDAL HANDICAP PLAY. The best cards in a medal handicap played on Saturday by inembers of the Martinborough Golf Club were: —Senior:: J. T. L. Pike. 81, 9. 72. Junior: A. N. McWilliam, 104. 29. 75.
