McCready defeats cox. GRUELLING MATCH IN WELLINGTON. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. Gruelling rather than spectacular wrestling in the Wellington Town Hall last night resulted in Earl McCready. British Empire champion, beating Tod Cox by a single fall, taken with a stopover toehold in the fifth round. McCready was in better form than when last he wrestled in Wellington but even so his matcraft lacked brilliance when contrasted with Cox’s virile rough-housing. Cox made free use of fists and teeth, to the entertainment of the large crowd. In a bright professional preliminary, Sid Scott (list 31b) beat Bert Monastra (list 21b). on points, one fall each. Monastra put up an excellent fight against Scott’s greater experience and tough physique. FORSTER DISQUALIFIED. SUDDEN END TO LIVELY BOUT DUNEDIN. August 14.
