REP. HOCKEY
WAIRARAPA LADIES’ TEAM. MATCHES AGAINST WELLINGTON AND AKITIO. The following team has been chosen to represent Wairarapa ladies against Akitio at Pongaroa next Saturday and against Wellington on August 26:— Misses M. Henderson, I. Palmer, E. Hanley, E. Madsen, B. Vincent, R. Harding, D. Le Forte, M. Whyborn, Mrs Te Tau, Miss M. Rayner, Mrs Foster. Emergencies: Misses J. Macallister, O. Mills. Any player not available for the Pongaroa match is requested to ring ’phone 1517.
Members of the tournament team must attend a practice at the Lansdowne grounds at 2.30 next Saturday. They are also requested to attend for physical training at the Kia Ora Club rooms, Church Street, tomorrow (Wednesday )evening at 7.30 o’clock. Their travelling expenses to and from Blenheim, amounting to £2 12s, should be handed in for collection by the manager at this meeting. ASSOCIATION MEETING. ARRANGEMENTS FOR COMING FIXTURES. A meeting of the Wairarapa Women’s Hockey Association was held in Masterton last evening, Mr Harding presiding. Members stood in silence as a ma-*> of respect to the late Miss Stubbs of Carterton, who was an active member of the Association.
Final arrangements were made for the New Zealand tournament to be held at Blenheim. Mrs Te Tau was appointed chaperone of the team, and Mr F. Madsen, manager. Transport arrangements were left in the hands of the manager. The Marlborough Association advised that billets had been arranged for the team at Blenheim.
The Wellington association advised that it was unable to send a representative team to Wairarapa before the tournament. Wairarapa Senior B and the Junior representative teams were invited to play Wellington senior B. and the junior representatives at Wellington on August 26. This arrangement was accepted. It was decided that both teams would travel by bus and Mr J. Rutherford was appointed manager of the teams.
The return match with Akitio will bo played at Pongaroa on Saturday. Transport arrangements were left in the hands of the Manager, Mr W. Harding.
Manawatu is to be invited to send a team to play Wairarapa in September, ■f a suitable date can be arranged. It was decided that the junior chamoionship be closed on September 2. to be followed by Morris Cup games.
