"China is unconquerable,” he declared. "The road to surrender and slavery is unthinkable. The only road is resistance unto victory. "Our tremendous resources will provide unlimited currency reserves. The country is otherwise self-sufficient." THREAT TO SHANGHAI CHINESE GUERILLAS MASSING. LONDON. August 12. The Japanese confirm that thousands of Chinese are massing in the vicinity of Shanghai in preparation for an attack. A rigid curfew has been imposed in the International Settlement. All places of amusement are closed down, and an additional 2000 . international volunteers arc under arms. The Japanese are also taking precautions in the occupied areas round the city.
