In the Rye tennis tournament in a semifinal of the men’s singles, F. A. Parker beat W. Van Horn, 3-6. 8-6, 6-1. 6-4. Van Horn's smashing tactics won the first set, but Parker’s steadier play then prevailed. In the quarter-finals of the doubles Mako and Mulloy defeated Parker and McfNeil, 4-6, 7-5, (J-4. Since Parker and McNeil are candidates for the Davis Cup assignment, their defeat has increased the dilemma of the nonplaying captain, Walter Pates. NATIONAL DOUBLES. SEEDINGS ANNOUNCED. BOSTON. August 12. The seedings for the national doubles opening tomorrow, are as follows:— Foreign: Quist and Bromwich, Crawford and Hopman, Destremau and Brugnon, Ampon and Sanchez. Domestic: Parker and McNeil, Riggs and Cooke, Mako and Tidball, Chester and William Murphy. In the draw for the first round Quist and Bromwich will play Sutter and Gilbert Hunt.
