ATLANTIC AIR MAIL
ROUND TRIP COMPLETED BY CARIBOU. NEW YORK AND BACK IN SIX DAYS. (British Official Wireless.) RUGBY. August 12. The Imperial Airways flying-boat Caribou, which arrived at Southampton yesterday after completing the 7200-miles round trip to New York and back in six days, made the Atlantic crossing from Botwood to Foyncs in 12 hours 5 minutes. The commander said that the speed at times exceeded 200 m.p.h.. and owing to a favourable wind, the Caribou dicl not refuel till it reached Southampton. The ship carried 72 pounds of mail. The Cabot left for Now York- today with its cargo, including a brace of grouse for President Roosevelt from Imperial Airways. This will be the first time grouse has been available in America two days after the opening of the season.
