SPREADING IN OCCUPIED CHINA THE JAPANESE OFFICIAL ATTITUDE. BRITISH PROTEST REJECTED. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. (Received This Day, 12.15 p.m.) LONDON. August 11. The Shanghai correspondent of “The Times” says the authorities rejected a British protest against last week's attack on British officers on the ground that the demonstrations were a spontaneous expression by Chinese people, but they declared that violence will not again be permitted. A Peking message states that the anti-British campaign is extending. A mob of Chinese stormed the Asiatic Petroleum Company’s premises at Tsoshan and stole 1.200 tins of kerosene. Many Chinese are attending th 6 antiBritish congress at Tientsin, with the object of unifying the campaign in China and Manchitkuo.
