SWATOW INCIDENT
BRITISH OFFICIALS EXPRESS REGRET. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright LONDON, August 11. An official British statement in Hong Kong says that the commander of the British destroyer Tenedos and the British Consul expressed regret for Monday's incident in Swatow which arose from the presence of British sailors. It was reported from Swatow yesterday that the Japanese Consul had refused a request for the modification of the demands over the incident, in which unarmed ratings from the Tenedos were involved in a fracas with Chinese, who entered the British compound stoned the consulate shouted anti-British slogans.
