EMPIRE AIR SERVICE
THE AOTEAROA FLIGHT LEAVING SOUTHAMPTON ON TUESDAY. SHOULD ARRIVE IN AUCKLAND ON AUGUST 27. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. The modified Empire flying-boat Aotearoa with Captain J. W. Burgess in command will probably be despatched from Southampton for New Zealand next Tuesday, and should arrive at Auckland on or about Sunday. August 27. according to a statement made last night by the Minister in Charge of Aviation. Mr. Jones. The Minister said that advice to this effect had been received through Union Airways of New Zealand, Limited. Accompanying Captain Burgess will be Mr. W. J. Craig, as first officer; Mr. J. Cussans, radio officer; and Mr. R. A. Phillips, flight steward, the Minister said. The flying-boat will also carry four ground engineers to be attached to Tasman Empire Airways at The base at Mechanics’ Bay, Auckland. They are Messrs. Knee, Coulson, McNamara and Bradshaw. Mr. Jones said it was expected that the delivery flight would occupy about 12 days to Auckland.
