THE LAMBETH WALK

SCENE IN QUEEN STREET. A section of Queen Street, Masterton. resembled the East End of London this morning, when children gathered outside the Regent Theatre to sing "the Lambeth Walk.” The youngsters sang lustily to a gramophone accompaniment, and one boy entertained passersby with an impromptu tap dance. The singers reached their vocal heights with an almost frenzied “Oi” which attracted the attention of the occupants of all near-by shops and offices. The young people were encouraged, at intervals, by being thrown hadfuls of coins, some of which were marked to represent free passes to the theatre.
