STUD AUCTIONED

HIGH PRICES IN MELBOURNE. MELBOURNE, August 11. Seven horses in which the late Australian financier, Mr E. L. Baillieu, was interested were auctioned today. The bidding was remarkably keen. The top price. 1150 guineas, was paid for Atlas (by Heroic), purchased by the Victorian, Mrs C. Cook. Another, named Force, now a two-year-old, fetched 1100 guineas, the buyer being Mr P. Osborne, New South Wales. Force is a handsome colt by Manitoba. The English-bred mare Fourgates (by Felstead, the English Derby winner) was bought for 1050 guineas by Mr H. Raymond, of the Saint Albans stud. Prices for the others ranged from 825 to 450 guineas.
