FEATHERSTON
A SCHOOL MATTER ■CENTRALISATION OPPOSED. (“Times-Age” Special.) A very well attended meeting of the Kahutara School district householders was held at Kahutara on Wednesday night, to consider the question of consolidating with the Featherston Primary School. Mr H. C. Playle, chairman of the School Committee, was in the chair. Mr A. Donald, of Masterton, a Wairarapa member of the Education Board was also present. The matter was keenly discussed, the meeting eventually deciding against consolidation. Personal Items. Mr and Mrs Linehan have returned from a visit to Pelone. Constable Taylor) of Wellington, is relieving Constable McLeod, who is away on his annual leave. Boxing.
Several Masterton boxers who are receiving instruction from Mr Wilkinson, will compete at a tournament to be held at Featherston on Saturday, August 19. B. Welsh will appear in a 6-rounds contest against Steve Morris, the well known lightweight, and N. Kennedy, of Carterton, will meet O’Connor, the Hutt champion. There will also be competitors from the Petone Workshops and Silvcrstream.
