YOUNG FARMERS’ CLUB INTERESTING ADDRESSES. i (“Times-Age” Special.) The members of the Young Farmers’ Club held their monthly meeting on Tuesday night, when there was a fair attendance of members. It was resolved that future meetings be held at 7.30 p.m. A sub-committee was appointed to confer with the Women's Division of the Farmers’ Union in connection with the advisabilitj' of appointing a Queen in connection with the raising of funds for the Centennial Swimming Baths.

At the conclusion of routine business interesting addresses were - given by members present, each speaker choosing his own subject. An exceptionally interesting and instructive time was spent. A wide range of subjects came under review, and each speaker showed a practical knowledge of his particular subject. At the conclusion the speakers were congratulated by Mr A. B. Martin, President of the Farmers’ Union, who acted as adjudicator. He said that he was impressed by the preparation and study given to the subjects and the manner in which they were presented. Mr Martin added some words of advice and was accorded a hearty vote of thanks. DISTRICT HIGH SCHOOL MEETING OF COMMITTEE. At the monthly meeting of the Martinborough District High School Committee there were present Messrs H. L. Griffiths, chairman. K. Arthur, secretary. E. Sadd, treasurer, W. J. McNally, R. P. George, G. P. Cotter, F. I. Wright, E. R. Burch, R. Lawrence, and the headmaster( Mr D. J. Pryor). The Headmaster reported that the attendances for the past month had been adversely affected by the weather. The Primary roll number, 194. average attendance 159.5; Secondary 39 and 36. The visiting committee reported that sundry small repairs at the school were necessary, and it was decided to have these carried out. Mr Wright was appointed visiting member for August. The Home and School Association conveyed an offer of macrocarpa trees for planting on the eastern boundary of schoolground—The Committee expressed appreciation of the offer, but regretted it could not undertake the work at present. Accounts amounting to £l4 9s 7d were passed for payment.
