BRITISH PUBLIC BUILDINGS GUARDED EXPLOSIVES DISCOVERED AT BLACKPOOL. SENTENCES OF TEN YEARS AT GLASGOW. (Independent Cable Service.) (Received This Day, 10.40 a.m.) LONDON, August 9. Extra guards have been stationed around the Houses of Parliament, at No. 10 Downing Street, and other important buildings, following on revelations by Scotland Yard Special Branch officers of another I.R.A. threat to blow these buildings up. Two packages containing explosives were discovered at the Blackpool General Post Office when the collecting boxes were being cleared. The Glasgow High Court sentenced Michael James O'Hara and John Carson to ten years’ penal servitude each, under the Explosives Act.
