SOIL CONSERVATION

PRACTICAL SCIENTIFIC WORK IN CANADA. OTTAWA. “You should go to Western Canada, not only to see where the finest wheat in the world is grown, but to see the wonderful work that is being done to prevent soil drifting, soil erosion, in getting the land back to pasture, in water development and water conservation. There is no finer piece of practical scientific work being done anywhere.” This advice was made by his Excellency. Lord Tweedsmuir. Gover-nor-General of Canada, in addressing a party of one hundred British farmers on a special visit to Canada. Most of the farmers were from England, 10 per cent were from Scotland, and a few were from Northern Ireland and Wales. Their itinerary did not permit them taking the advice of his Excellency to visit Western Canada. They visited the principal farming sections of Eastern Canada and then continued their trip to New York where they visited the World's Fair.
