TRIP FOR PADISHAH?
MAY GO TO ENGLAND. TO CONTEST GRAND NATIONAL AT AINTREE. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. Will Padishah be taken to England to the Liverpool Grand National Steeplechase at Aintree next March? Mr J. A. Hennah said he had received an offer from a well-known Hawke's Bay man to pay all expenses connected with such a trip, providing he was given a half-interest in the horse during his racing in England. In declining to disclose the man’s name, Mr Hennah said that if Padishah came through the present carnival well, he would give the offer consideration.
Moifaa, which raced in the colours of a Hawke's Bay sportsman, the late Mr S; H. Gollan, made a trip to England after unsuccessfully contesting the Grand National at Riccarton and won ihe Liverpool Grand National in 1904. He was then sold to the late King Edward VII and contested the same race in the following year, but had become broken-winded and gave an inglorious showing. Levanter was another New Zealand horse to make the trip, but he failed. If Padishah goes, he will be the second horse from Hawke’s Bay to contest, the greatest steeplechase in the world.
