DISASTER TO PLANE
LADEN BOMBER CRASHES IN TAKE-OFF THREE MEMBERS OF CREW DIE IN HOSPITAL. FIVE OTHERS INJURED. (Received This Day, 11.10 a.m.) LONDON, August 8. The Alexandria correspondent of "The Times” says an Air Force bomber, with 1,100 gallons of petrol aboard, starting for Lake Habbaniyeh, en route to Iraq, taxied two miles, struck a seawall, crashed and caught fire. The eight sprang out as the tank exploded. Aircraftman Scott and Pilot-Sergeant Steel died in hospital and Aircraftman Shaw is not expected to recover. Five others were injured.
