CHINESE DOLLAR
SLUMP TO NEW LOW LEVEL EXTENSION OF BRITISH CREDITS. URGED IN BANKING CIRCLES. By Telegraph—Press Association— Copyright. LONDON, August 7. A message from Shanghai states that the Chinese dollar has slumped to a new low level, and the market closed today below 4d. Chinese banking circles expressed the opinion that nothing but a further extension of British credits to replenish the nearly exhausted stabilisation fund would save the situation. Hong Kong reports that the Chinese Government bought 1.430.0000 z. of gold from private sources in China during the year ended May 31 last. LOAN FROM RUSSIA (Received This Day. 10.10 a.m. ) LONDON, August 8. The British United Press correspondent at Chungking says officials confirm that Russia is lending China £28.000,000.
