TORTOISESHELL
OIL IT, BUT DON’T WASH IT , Don’t wash tortoiseshell or you will destroy the surface polish. Here is a good cleaning mixture. Mix some jeweller’s rouge with a little olive oil. Rub it gently into the shell, working one way all the time. Polish with a dry duster, then with a leather on which you have put a little dry jeweller's rouge.
