MAKING SATISFACTORY PROGRESS

CONDITION REPORTED MORE REASSURING. MESSAGE FROM THE KING AND QUEEN. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON. This Day. The Prime Minister. Mr Savage, spent a comfortable weekend following his operation in Lewisham Hospital on Friday. A bulletin issued at 8 p.m. yesterday by his medical advisers. Dr J.' Roberts Boys and Mr E. Gordon Anderson, stated that Mr Savage had had a very comfortable day. and that he was progressing as well as could be expected. Mr Savage also spent a comfortable day on Saturday, and the bulletin issued yesterday morning stated that he, had had a good night, with many spells of uninterrupted sleep. His condition then was reported to be more reassuring. Mr Savage has not yet progressed sufficiently to receive visitors. Notable among the messages of sympathy which continues to arrive in great numbers from all parts of the Empire was one received yesterday from His Majesty the King, who is at present in residence at Balmoral Castle. It read:

The Queen and I arc so sorry to hear that you have had to undergo an operation, and trust that you will make a speedy and complete recovery.—Signed. George, R.I.

A message was also received during the weekend from the Leader of the Australian Commonwealth Labour Party. Mr John Curtin. It read as follows: “Sincerest wishes from the whole Australian Labour movement for your speedy and complete recovery. We send our regards and admiration.” BULLETIN TODAY ANOTHER COMFORTABLE NIGHT. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON. This Day. A bulletin, issued by the Prime Minister’s medical advisers at 9 a.m., stated: “The Prime Minister had another comfortable night. His post-operative condition is satisfactory and is following the usual course in such cases.” It is understood by Mr P. Fraser, the Acting-Leader of the House of Representatives, that it is not likely that any further report will be issued today.
