ALLEGED CONCESSIONS BY BRITAIN SURRENDER OF ACCUSED CHINESE. APPOINTMENT OF POLICE & ADVISERS. By Telegraph—Press Association—copyright. TOKIO, August 5. The Domei news agency states that this morning’s meeting of British and Japanese delegates agreed that the four alleged Chinese assassins in Tientsin should be immediately handed over. Other points agreed upon were: Co-operation with the Japanese authorities by the Municipal Council in a search for anti-Japanese elements and Communists within the British Concession. • Strict control of anti-Japanese publications and education within the concession. Replacement of anti-Japanese policemen by Japanese police. Appointment of Japanese advisers to the Municipal Council. The British Ambassador, Sir Robert Craigie, has not received instructions regarding the currency issue.
NEW SHIPPING COMPANY
TOKIO. August 6. It is officially stated that the newlyorganised Toa Kaiun Kaisha (East Asiatic Steam Navigation Company), with a capital of £‘4.300.000, will unify the Chinese and Japanese shipping business.
