PLAYERS DIE FROM INJURIES. COLLISION WITH TEAM MATE. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) DUNEDIN, August 6. While playing in a senior Rugby match in Oamaru on Saturday, Cecil R. Davey, aged 29, collided with a team mate early in the game. There was no indication that he had suffered injury. He continued to play throughout the game. Early on Sunday morning a doctor was called in, and Davey was removed to hospital, where he died two hours Liter. Death was due to haemorrhage of the brain. Davey was employed in the line construction branch of the Post and Telegraph Dapartment. He was well known and a popular footballer and cricketer, having represented North Otago in both sports for several seasons. FULL-BACK’S DEATH. ACCIDENT AT WANGANUI. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WANGANUI. August 6. The death occurred in Wanganui Hospital last night of M. Guy, a member of Technical' Old Boys’ senior Rugby team, following a head injury received in the game with Pirates which was played as a curtain-raiser to the Wanganui championship final on Spriggens Park on Saturday. Near the end of the game Guy, who was playing full-back, left the field unaided there being a stoppage of play, and sat in the grandstand for a while. Later, on returning home, he became unconscious and he was taken to hospital, where he died shortly after admission. He was 19 years of age, having left the Technical College last year. He represented Wanganui at cricket for two seasons. He was a right-hand medium pace bowler and won a place in the Wanganui team which played Sir Julien Cahn’s team last March.
