Taranaki scored a decisive win against Hawke's Bay in a Rugby match on Saturday by 18 to 3. The Hawke’s Bay pack was outplayed and the Taranaki backs followed up the good work of their forwards with slashing movements. Though Hawke’s Bay was without Bowman, Reid and Jackson., the forwards substantially outweighed Taranaki, but a virile performance was given by the home pack in the loose and the line-out. The only aspect in which Hawke's Bay had the advantage was in the sot scrums. With Killeen and Sullivan in brilliant form, the Taranaki backs gradually established superiority, which became more marked as the game progressed. Scorers.—Taranaki: Maclean. Sullivan (two tries each), Johns (three conversions); Hawke’s Bay, Lockwood (try).
