RECORD OUTPUT
THIRTY-TWO SHIPS IN AS MANY MONTHS. At the recent annual meeting of the Burntisland Shipbuilding Co.. Ltd.. Scotland, it was revealed by the chairman. Mr Wilfred Ayre. that in the past 32 months the shipyard had turned out 32 ships, totalling 137.000 tons, and representing a rate of production of one vessel of 4.300 tons per month. This, claimed Mr Ayre. was a record that had not been equalled by any shipbuilding plant in the world. During the year under review, the company delivered to owners in Great Britain. Australia. Norway. Greece and Poland, seven ships with a total carrying capacity of 39.000 tons.
