FROZEN MEAT TRADE
LONDON QUOTATIONS LAMB MARKET EASIER. WETHER PRICES FIRM. Lamb market: With heavy landings and prospective increasing supplies home-killed, tendency market slightly easier. Mutton market: Wethers firm, ! with fair trade. Ewes quiet, prices shew little change. Beef market: I Frozen beef firm, with good demand. Chilled beef easier this week on the heavy supplies and owing to muggy weather. New Zealand porker pigs: Firm on the short spot stocks. New Zealand baconer pigs: Nominal. Boneless bobby veal: Quiet, with prices unchanged. The above report was received yesterday by the Meat Board from its London office, which advises that the following are the ruling prices of wholesale quantities of the descriptions of frozen meat mentioned and are for representative parcels of the goods sold on Thursday. Chilled beef prices are averages of the week. All prices are on the basis of delivered to Smithfield Market. Prices for the previous week are shown in parentheses:— New Zealand sheep: Crossbred wethers and/or maiden ewes, 481 b and under, 5d (sd); 491 b to 561 b, 4 5-8 d (4 5-8 d); 571 b to 641 b, 4 3-8 d (4 3-8 d); 651 b ta 721 b, 3 7-8 d (3 7-8 d).
