Lady Hutson, widow of a former Governor of the Fiji Islands, presented a whale’s tooth, a symbol of loyalty and peace, to the cruiser Fiji, which was launched at Clydebank.
Amateur plays and concerts, given by the prisoners in Maidstone Gaol, in Kent, have proved so successful that a permanent theatre is to be provided. It will also be available for film shows.
