CARTERTON
FIRE BRIGADE FUNDS FOR NEW UNIFORMS. (“Times-Age” Special.) A meeting of Carterton ladies, called for yesterday for the purpose of organising some means of raising £lOO for the purchase of new uniforms for the Carterton Volunteer Fire Brigade, was well attended. Miss O. W. Wolters was voted to the chair and explained the purpose of the meeting. Those present were enthusiastic in helping along any project that would be the means of raising the required £lOO, and it was unanimously resolved to arrange for a shop day on Friday, August 18, and to hold a ball in the King’s Theatre on Monday,' August 28. It is expected these two functions, assisted by competitions and raffles and the united help of citizens will be the means of providing the required sum. Miss Wolters was elected chairman and Mrs H. H. L. Meyrick secretary. A further'meeting will be held on Wednesday next at the fire station at 2.30 o’clock and it is hoped there will be a large attendance of ladies.
