QUEEN CARNIVAL

CATHOLIC CENTENNIAL EVENT. NORTH QUEEN IN THE LEAD. The Masterton Catholic Centennial Queen Carnival is now well under way and on the flagpole of Mr H. E. Pither's shop in Queen Street are four flags indicating the positions of the various queens. At the present time the North queen (blue). Miss M. Eastwood, is in front, followed by the West queen (purple), Miss P. Kilmister. Then comes the South queen (gold), Miss K. Cairns and the East queen (red), Miss A. Mannell. Several functions have been held by the various electorates and on Tuesday evenings a social event is held in St. Patrick’s Hall. It is intended to hold a combined shop day on August 25 and a combined dance in the Municipal Hall on August..l2. The carnival will wind up with a grand bazhar to be held in the Municipal Hall on October 11. 12 and 13. During the course of the bazaar a tug-of-war will be staged.
