WOMEN’S INSTITUTE

MEETING AT UPPER PLAIN. The monthly meeting of the Upper Plain Women's Institute was held recently at the residence of Mrs Mannel. In spite of the cold, wet weather there was a good attendance of members. Mrs,Gordon Dagg presided. The meeting opened with the aspirations and pray for the peace of the world. The roll call, “My most exciting experience,” brought forth many interesting experiences. During the afternoon Miss Beth Payne gave a demonstration on bent hair - pin work which was watched with the keenest interest. She was accorded a hearty vote of thanks. The competitions for the month resulted as follow:—Best bloom, Mrs C. R. Jones 1; date scones, Mrs G. Dagg 1. Mrs Jones 2, Miss Cohen 3; worked buttonholes on cotton material, Mrs Jones 1.

A pleasant afternoon was brought to a close with the singing of the National Anthem. .
