VETERINARY SCHOOL
WORLD’S OLDEST AT LYONS.
The oldest veterinary school in the world is that of Lyons. It was founded under Louis XV, in 1762, .as an annexe cf the riding school. It is older by four years than the famous veterinary school of Alfort, near Paris. In 1796 the school was transferred to its present quarters in one of the picturesque old parts of Lyons. Founded by Bourgeleat, a notable of Lyons, the school was continued by Abbe Rozier, also well know as a botanist, and Brcdin. A scries of masters of high reputation have'made the school famous, among them J. B. A. Chauveau and S. Arloing, pioneers in veterinary medical science. The school numbers about a hundred pupils.
