COURSING
EVENTS TO BE DECIDED ON SATURDAY.
SOME NOTABLE COMPETITORS
Arrangements are well in hand for Saturday's coursing meeting when the Cooper Cup and Maiden Stake events will be decided.
Nominations will close tonight at G o'clock with the secretary and the draw takes place tomorrow night in the Y.M.C.A. rooms at 8.30. The Cup has drawn a select and representative field of some of the best greyhounds in the district, also from Wanganui and Wellington. This event should be an excellent try-out for dogs contesting the New Zealand Waterloo Cup to be held at Hastings on August 17. 18 and 19. Large nominations have been received for the Waterloo Cup, probably the largest since 1921 when the fixture was run at Hamilton. It is confidently expected by the Hawke's Bay Club that the total will reach 64.
The Maiden Stake to be run on Saturday will total 12 dogs. All the dogs competing are well trained. Further nominations in the Cup include Full-o-Gay. a high class greyhound who has already showed good promise earlier in the season.
A meeting of the executive will be held at 7 o’clock on Thursday evening in the Y.M.C.A.
