Parliament adjourns finally until October 3. The Premier (Mr Neville Chamberlain) gave the House of Commons an assurance that adequate arrangements had been made to ensure that Parliament could continue to meet in the event of war.
Sir John Simon (Chancellor of the Exchequer) declined to give a questioner any indication of his intentions regarding further borrowing for defence.
