The New Zealand Finance Minister. Mr W. Nash, who released the New Zealand Budget in London, commenting on the public works programme said the expenditure on railways and roads was essential to provide adequately for defence needs. The bulk of the public works expenditure, if the case were fully made out. could be charged to New Zealand defence programme. Mr Nash, in a statement, said he had been impressed by England's interest in New Zealand and appreciated the loyal support of his colleagues. Mr Nash will leave for America aboard the Queen Mary tomorrow.
