RAID ON SERVICE STATION ATTENDANT ASSAULTED. SUM OF ABOUT £3O STOLEN. (By Tel egrapn—Press Association.) WELLINGTON. This Day. After a busy night, during which numerous motor vehicle owners had purchased petrol, in anticipation of higher prices, a garage attendant was. robbed of about £3O. shortly before midnight, by two men who left him unconscious and bleeding. The scene of the hold-up was Sherwin and Morton, Ltd's service station, in Wakefield Street. The attendant, Charles Williams, of Hay Street, said later that he was cashing up for the night when he was called to the door of the office. He was confronted by two men, and, it is alleged, one commanded him at the point of a revolver to "Hold them up!” and struck him savagely on the forehead. On recovering consciousness, he telephoned the police. Williams is in hospital, but his condition is not serious.
