SOLWAY RAINFALL. FIGURES FOR JULY. Mr H. M. Boddington reports that rain was measured on 26 days in July. The maximum fall was 156 points on the 4th, and the minimum 1 point on the Ist and 16th. The total for the month was 7.66 inches, as compared with 3.80 (1938), 4.53 (1937), 4.77 (1936). 5.69 (1935), 3.62 (1934). The average for 36 years is 4.28 inches. The total rainfall for the seven months of the present year is 18.22 inches, as against 29.00 (1938), 21.57 (1937), 29.67 (1936), 24.70 (1935), 23.08 (1934); average for 36 years, 23.32 inches. The 7.66 inches measured for July is the second greatest rainfall at Solway over the past 36 years. In July, 1912, 13.00 inches were recorded.

Miss A. M. Brown reports as follows for the 24 hours ended 9 a.m. today:— Barograph, 30.53. Shade temperature: Maximum 48.1. minimum 37.6. terrestrial 31.9. Sunshine. 2 hours 6 minutes. Rain. 5 points.

Mr H. M. Boddington reports that 9 points of rain fell at Solway during the 24 hours ended 9 a.m. today.

Weather forecast: Light to moderate and variable winds, with south-easterly predominating at first; weather fair to fine; milder day but colder night tempera tures with some frocte.
