USEFUL TEAM AT TAKANINI
PRIVATE TRAINER HAS PLENTY TO DO. T. Verner, private trainer to Messrs O. Nicholson and the Hon E. R. Davis, has a string of six horses to occupy his attention, and they make a useful team. Jack Tar. which scored a surprise victory at Trentham, looks none the worse for the trip, and a repetition of that form should enable him to secure further honours. Gamos, which created such a tine impression last autumn, is a promising hack. He looks in excellent heart after a spell and is assured of a good future. Birthday Boy is also a well-known and capable galloper which will add interest to handicap events when ready. The three younger members of the team, which have excellent breeding to recommend them are Te Kawiti. a rising three-year-old by Night Raid —Queen March, a rising two-year-old by Iliad—Queen March, and another by Solicitor General from that good little performer Gay Marigold. The last-named bears the markings of his dam. while he is of similar conformation.
