FEATHERSTON

NATIONAL PARTY SUCCESSFUL DANCE. (“Times-Age” Special.) The local branch of the National Party held a most successful dance in the Anzac Hall last night, visitors being present from all parts of the Wairarapa, Hawke’s Bay and Wellington. Mr C. Buck made an excellent M.C., and the music was supplied by Udy's Orchestra. The stage and supper room were tastefully decorated, this being the work of the Misses Tutbury. Mrs D. H. S. Riddiford and Miss Card were the hostesses. The supper which was donated by members of the Party, was a feature of the dance.’ FAREWELL GATHERING PRESENTATION TO MR R. BENTON A pleasant time was spent at the Methodist Hall when between fifty and sixty young people met to bid farewell to Mr Ray Benton, who left yesterday to join the Air Force at Wigram, Christchurch. The evening was spent in dancing to music supplied by Messrs J. Buck (piano) and T. Simmonds, R. Sadler. B. Barnard < piano-accordion). ‘After supper Miss P. Cherry and Mr W. McNamara, called up Mr Benton to accept on behalf of the young people of Featherston a pair of ebony hairbrushes inscribed with initials. ' Mr Benton suitably replied. At midnight the evening was brought to a close with the singing of "Auld Lang Syne.” Mr and Mrs G. Benton won the first lucky spot and Mr G. Benton and Miss E. Simmonds won the second lucky spot. CHARITY BALL . FEATHERSTON DEBUTANTES. The Featherston debutantes who are to be presented at the Charity Ball in Masterton on Wednesday night are Misses Oida McLeod. Gwendoline Saba. Florence Saba and Nola Cole.
