A new motor torpedoboat specially adaptable for Dominion coastal defence underwent official Admiralty trials at Southampton Water. The vessel covered a measure mile at 46.5 knots, which is claimed to be a record for this type. It was a remarkable performance. The craft raced down the course without vibration and was very'; steady in a cross sea and terrific wind! velocity but the conditions on board | remained very dry. The vessel has a | fast acceleration and great manoeuv-| rability and is unusually silent. Herrange is a thousand miles. With a [ length of sixty-five feet overall, the new craft is armed with two torpedo tubes, depth charges, machineguns and an automatic cannon smokescreen. The cost is £45.000.
