* DR W. J. MAYO DEAD. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. (Received This Day, 9.35 a.m.) NEW YORK, July 28. Obituary: Dr William J. Mayo, aged 78. With his brother Charles, who died on May 26 last Dr Mayo founded the Mayo Clinic. A Christchurch Press Association message says that news of the death of Dr W. J. Mayo, head of the famous Mayo foundation al Rochester. U.S.A., was received this morning by Dr P. Stanley Foster, president of the New Zealand branch of the B.M.A. Dr Mayo was recognised as the greatest surgeon in the world, the message states.
