A woman handed in a parcel to an eating house at the Birkenhead docks, saying: “This is Paddy Regan’s dinner.” An attendant, hearing ticking, opened the parcel and found a bomb timed to go off at 12.30 p.m.. when a hut full of workers would be having lunch.
