CHURCH SERVICES
The Holy Communion will bo celebrated at St. Matthew’s Church tomorrow, at 8 a.m. The Rev. T. V. Pearson will be the preacher at 11 a.m. At 7 p.m. the choir wil render a musical service of praise. The usual services will be held at Brancepeth in the afternoon and at Kuripuni in the evening. The church services at Knox Church tomorrow morning and evening will be conducted by the Rev. John Davie, who will also take the service at Kaituna at 2 p.m. Major Goffin is announced to conduct the 55th anniversary services at the Salvation Army tpmorrow. The Petone Army Band will be in attendance, and wil render selections at each service at 11 a.m., 3 p.m., 7 p.m., and in the sacred programme in the after-church service at 8.30 p.m. Major Goffin, known as “the Man for Men,” will be the speaker at each service, and is considered to be a most convincing and passionate speaker. All are heartily’ invited to these special services. The Rev George Beilby, a young Baptist minister who is at present in charge of the Island Bay Baptist Church. Wellington, will conduct the Baptist Fellowship meeting in the Y.M.C.A. Hall at 11 a.m. tomorrow. All are welcome to this bright Gospel service. In the Methodist Church tomorrow the services in the morning and evening will be conducted by the Rev Frederick J. Parker. At the morning service the study will be on "PrayerHave we Lost the True Art Of It? At the evening service the subject will be “The Need of the Far Horizon”— a study in the implications of Christ’s Teaching. At the morning service at the Kuripuni Methodist Church tomorrow the preacher will be Mr Alan Handyside. Al 6.50 p.m. cars will leave for the Town Church service to which all are welcome.
A musical service of praise will be held at St Matthew’s Church tomorrow, following a shortened Evensong. Under the direction of Mr William C. Mann, with Mr A. Miller Hope at the organ, the choir will sing the anthems •Hosanna in the Highest" (Stainer), soloist Mr Archer Hale; "Seek Ye the Lord” (Varley Roberts), soloist Mr Wm. C. Mann; "Blessed be to God and Father” (Wesley), soloists Mrs Moss and Mr Archer Hale; "Jesu Joy of Man's Desiring" (Bach) and "O PraiseGod in His Holiness” (Vine Hall), soloist Miss Alice Winhall. A solo wilt be sung by Mr G. V. Greer. "Open the Gates of the Temple,” a duet. ■Love Divine," by Miss Rose Robinson and Mr L. Dilnot Wales, and a quartette, "Jesu Word of God Incarnate," by Mrs Burke, Miss Grace Gaudin and Messrs Alan Green and F. Thornton. Owing to Mr McGovern's funeral, there will be no service at Mauriceville or Opaki tomorrow.
