SPANISH GOLD
HANDED OVER TO FRANCO. FRENCH REFUGEE CLAIMS NOT SETTLED. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. (Received This Dav, 10.5 a.m.) LONDON, July 28. “The Times” Paris correspondent says that 81 millions sterling worth of Spanish gold has been handed over to Franco officials, ending one of General Franco's major grievances against France. No provision has been made for settling the heavy expenses France incurred in maintaining Spanish refugees. The Government is inclined to write off the whole amount as trivial when so much is being spent on armaments.
