At the wool sales. 7.473 bales were offered, including 4,265 from New Zealand and 6.057 were sold. There was rather a poor selection and the demand was less active. New Zealand greasy crossbred. 3 in circle, realised from 10';d to lid; scoured crossbred pieces. Kennington. ll. : ;d to 13,!d. Throughout the series, 93.400 bales were offered and 83,000 were sold, including 43.500 from New Zealand and 31.500 from Australia. The number cf bales held over is 17.000 Now Zealand and 21.590 Australian. The tendency throughout has been firm and competition has been keen. Compared with the close of the last series, scoured Merinos were at par io medium, and coarse crossbreds 10 to 15 I per cent, and other kinds from 5 to 7A per cent dearer. BROKER’S REPORT GOOD GENERAL COMPETITION. Messds Levin and Co Ltd. have received the following cable from their London agents dated July 62, 1939: — “The auctions closed here today with a good tone. There was good general competition mainly from the Home trade. The total quantity offered was 98.443 bales, sold 83,000 bales, carried forward 39,000 bales including 17,000 bales New Zealand. Compared with the opening rates of last sale, wo quote Greasy Merino, best, unchanged; average. unchanged; fine halfbreds, 50/565, unchanged; extra fine crossbreds, 48/505.. Ad to ;?d per lb lower: fine crossbreds, 46/48s, Ad to ,?d per lb lower; medium crossbreds, 44/465, -id to .id per lb lowerjcoarse crossbreds 40/445, Ad to ijd per lb lower; low crossbreds, 36/40s, Ad to jd per lb lower; slipes, A-bred lambs, ; ’d to Ad per lb lower; clothing, jd to id per lb lower; scoured merinos, no change.
