CREDITS FOR POLAND 1
GRANTED BY BRITAIN PURCHASE OF MUNITIONS. CASH LOAN STILL UNDER ' DISCUSSION. (British Official Wireless.) RUGBY. July 25. ''ln the House of Commons, Sir John Simon made the following statement regarding financial negotiations which have been proceeding with a Polish delegation:—
“The discussions covered two separate matters. The first is in connection with export credits. Britain has offered to guarantee export credits up to an amount ox eight million pounds in order to facilitate the purchase in Britain by Poland of material necessary for its defence. Detailed arrangements which will have to be made are now I being adjusted between the Polish financial delegation and the Government Department concerned. “Discussions have also been proceeding on the possibility of a cash loan tc Poland by Britain and France, acting jointly. I regret that it has not been found possible to reach an agreemen' as to the conditions on which such a loan might be made available in time for the necessary legislation to be passed before the House rises.” Sir J. Simon added that the expori credits would be to assist purchases of material in the United Kingdom, but that as regards the further question. France and Britain were entirely as one in being willing to assist Poland in making necessary purchases of munitions from other countries.
