COURSING

WAIRARAPA CLUB’S MEETING

CONTEST FOR STEVE COOPER CHALLENGE CUP.

On Saturday next the fortnightly series of Plumpton meetings being hole' by the Wairarapa Coursing Club will be curried a stage further, when :•> upon contest for the Steve Coopci Challenge Cup will be held. This handsome silver trophy was won last seasoi by The Clipper, who unfortunately will not be a competitor on Saturday owing to injuries. There is a possibility that he may never course again.

Mr F. Picking's Mungi Taipo. from Wanganui, which successfully coursei here two weeks ago to win the Watsoi Rose Bowl is a competitor and al though he will be meeting sterner op position this time, he should be close up at the finish. It is of interest to recall that Mr Ricking won this trophy at the first time of competition with Mosquito Boy and Mountain Dell, which divided the stake, after boatin? the Waterloo winners Rercatu and Why Hurry.

Another promising pair for this event are Messrs McGreath and Cook'Cardsharper, of Wellington, and Mr W. L. Jensen’s Helen Rufus, of Carterton. The latter is a speedy greyhound which can work to perfection once she reaches the hare. Cardsharper has a lot of pace, but lacks working capabilities. Should he strike a straigh.running hare he should get the opening points.
