Mako defaulted in the singles and doubles at the opening of the Seabright tournament today, but ,on the insistence of Mr Walter Pate, the non-playing' captain of the American Davis Gup team, he is re-entering the doubles.

Mako pleaded back injury and said he could not play for a fortnight, but Mr Pate instructed him to make himself available, and asked the tournament committee to include Mako and Sabin in tHe doubles draw.

Every important contender for the American team is entered —Riggs, Mako, Grant, Cooke, Parker, Mulloy, and Sain, seeded ip that order.
